CMS Coding! Woot!
Yeah, looks like I am going to be coding a CMS. Well, not from scratch, but still, it’s not easy. It looks like I’ll be using Textpattern for a lot of the work, but of course, a lot of custom coding will be going on. The end product will be used on this site, my church’s site, and my employer’s site. It should be interesting.
I think content management systems are awesome, but they lack features that you would think would come with them! Like, oh, I don’t know…. API integration! You have services like flickr which have APIs but CMS coders make a plug-in writer make the function available. It works, but it’s not near as good as it could be.
I’m going to do my best to end that. There are so many web 2.0 apps out there that could be implemented into a CMS but no one will do it. Well, looks like I will. Oh what fun!
