50,000 tracks on last.fm

Wow. Three years and three days ago I signed up on audioscrobbler and starting scrobbing my tracks. Later on, the site was re-named last.fm and that’s where it’s at today. Last.fm tracks all the music you listen to in your media player on your computer and sends the data to last.fm’s website. Then, last.fm builds statistics on what you listen to and recommends music based on what you listen to.
It’s pretty sweet, and after all this time, here’s some stats:
I have listened to 50,000 songs in 1,098 days, which gives an average of 45 tracks per day. My 50,000th song was “Epoch of War” from Becoming the Archetype. My top 10 most listened to artists and play count are as follows:
1. Metallica: 4,111
2. Demon Hunter: 3,606
3. The Beatles: 2,639
4. System of a Down: 2,496
5. Anberlin: 2,324
6. Modest Mouse: 1,803
7. Metric: 1,659
8. As I Lay Dying: 1,540
9. The Transmission: 1,144
10. Disturbed: 1,110

Top 10 songs and play count:

1. The Transmission – Binary Baby: 336
2. System of a Down – B.Y.O.B.: 316
3. Metric – IOU: 315
4. Metric – Combat Baby: 290
5. Yoko Kanno – Inner Universe: 237
6. System of a Down – Revenga: 210
6. Modest Mouse – Float On: 210
8. System of a Down – Cigaro: 204
9. Metallica – Enter Sandman: 199
10. Demon Hunter – The Soldier’s Song: 193

It’s pretty interesting to see how much my musical taste has changed over 3 years… from indie rock to heavy metal. Pretty cool.
